Is the Board Agenda a Public Announcement?

Wheaton-Warrenville CUSD 200 will put something in the weekly news letter (Friday Focus), on the front of their web page and in the newspaper if they want the community to know about it.  In the case of Engage 200, they even mailed a flyer to every home.  But, if they would rather we not know about it, it makes the agenda and a vote – Who will know about it?

The following is a short email exchange between Jan Shaw (a wheaton watchdog) and Erica Loiacono  (CUSD 200 Director of Public Relations).

In the Feb. 11, 2015 consent agenda we spotted “5. Approval to Post High School Health Textbook for Community Review”

On Feb, 27 Jan sent this to the district

Was “Pearson Health ©2014″ approved for Public comment during the last board meeting? |
If so,
where was that public notice sent?
Where can I find it online?
Why is it not in the Friday focus?
The response on March 2, 2015:

Ms. Shaw.

Thank you for taking the time to read our communications each week.

Yes, the textbook you are referring to was approved for posting at the last meeting. It has been on display at the School Service Center and has been since the day after it was approved to post for community review. The voting results of the consent agenda are available once minutes from that meeting are approved. In the interim, we always get the podcasts up as soon as possible so that the community can see results from a meeting. That podcast can be viewed here:
